Redi-Rock Retaining Walls BC is delivered through a strategic manufacturing alliance with Hyland, a family-owned concrete manufacturing group with over four decades of experience serving civil, infrastructure, and land development projects across British Columbia.
As the official Redi-Rock® manufacturing partner in BC, Hyland Precast Ltd. locally produces engineered modular block retaining wall systems designed to address the province’s unique slope stability, waterfront erosion, roadway infrastructure, and high-rainfall land development challenges. This alliance combines Redi-Rock’s globally engineered retaining wall technology with Hyland’s deep regional expertise in concrete manufacturing, aggregate supply, and civil installation—ensuring solutions that are both structurally sound and constructible within BC’s complex site and environmental conditions.
Our History Stems from Expertise in the Concrete Industry
Hyland Precast was founded in 1981 and operates from six acres of owned land in the Comox Valley between the City of Courtenay and the Village of Cumberland. Through Hyland Precast Inc., the company has built extensive experience in gravel pit operations, ready-mix concrete, aggregate production, and the manufacturing of engineered precast concrete products for civil, commercial, residential, and infrastructure applications throughout the province.
Strategic expansion included the acquisition of T&R Contracting and Coast Hydro Excavating in Powell River, integrating retaining wall installation and hydro-vac excavation services into the group’s capabilities. Coast Hydro Excavating has since expanded operations into the Comox Valley, supporting projects across Vancouver Island and coastal BC.
The Atkinson family’s entry into the precast sector began with the acquisition of Fraserway Prekast in the early 2000s, including its license to manufacture Wilbert™ burial vault systems, followed by the establishment of Vancouver Ready Mix to support infrastructure and development projects throughout Metro Vancouver. In 2020, Fraserway Prekast and Vancouver Ready Mix were strategically divested to support continued investment in Redi-Rock retaining wall manufacturing and installation across British Columbia.
Today, the Redi-Rock Retaining Walls BC and Hyland Precast manufacturing alliance provides locally produced, engineered retaining wall systems tailored to meet the long-term performance demands of BC’s sloped terrain, water-adjacent developments, and critical infrastructure environments.
